Richard Elias Monassa is a seasoned martial artist and sports coordinator with over three decades of experience in the field. Renowned for his expertise in karate, Richard has left an indelible mark on the martial arts community through his leadership, achievements, and dedication to the development of athletes. We were champions at all levels and in several categories from base to senior.
At the Orlando in Shotokan, we are dedicated to spreading the philosophy and benefits of karate while nurturing the Olympic spirit. Founded in 1984, AKP stands as the official representative of karate in Petrópolis and the state of Rio de Janeiro. Affiliated with the Rio de Janeiro Karate Federation (FKERJ), the Brazilian Karate Confederation (CBK), as well as international entities such as International Shotokan Karate federation and Japan Karate Federation, World Karate Federation has been instrumental in shaping countless individuals’ journeys in martial arts. We are affiliates of these international Karate institutions.
At the Orlando in Shotokan, we boast a team of highly skilled instructors with extensive experience in teaching and practicing karate. Each instructor brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the dojo, ensuring that students receive top-notch training tailored to their individual needs and goals.
The main objective is physical and mental health/ and increased self-esteem, helping practitioners to develop a spirit of unity and humility/ through the practice of karate path. Increasing self-esteem, discipline and unity, helping in the development of citizens.
Beyond the dojo, Orlando in Shotokan is actively involved in the local community, organizing events, seminars, and outreach programs to promote the benefits of karate and healthy living. And encouraging competition in three international organizations.
At Orlando in Shotokan, we believe in nurturing not only the physical but also the mental and emotional aspects of our students.
8 levels of beginner development are acquired with the belt ranking, classifying over the course of every 6 months until reaching the first degree black belt with a lifelong path infinitely gaining degrees in the black belt.
