HISTORY OF THE PETRÓPOLIS KARATE ASSOCIATION
The Petrópolis Karate Association is the official representative of karate
in Petrópolis and the State of Rio de Janeiro. It was founded in 1984 with the objective,
among other things, of disseminating the philosophical values and benefits of karate and
Olympic sports. It is affiliated with the Rio de Janeiro State Karate Federation
(FKERJ) and the Brazilian Karate Confederation (CBK), both of which are, in turn,
affiliated with the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).
The AKP is also affiliated with the ISKF and JKA, international representative bodies of
karate. Over its twenty-year history, the AKP has graduated one hundred black belts from among the more than 6,000 students who have passed through its ranks. This includes students from projects promoted by the organization in partnership with the Municipality of Petrópolis since January 2000, covering 1,800 students from the Municipal Education Network. Over the years, the AKP has worked on several fronts, always with great competence and a high satisfaction rate, holding the highest number of titles in state, national, and international tournaments in the state.
OLYMPIC KARATE PROJECT
1-JUSTIFICATION:
Areal is a peaceful city with a medium HDI, and the municipality stands out for its new and good
administration. Through curricular and extracurricular sports, it will bring a large contingent of young people into our schools who, often, are aimless on the streets, without any other healthy activity. Most of the time, they don’t have the money to pay for
an activity like karate. It would give them the opportunity to, in addition to acquiring
skills through the different modalities we can develop within
karate Physical Education, channel their energy, aggression, and violence in a way
that focuses on the future, creating a work ethic that can
in the future direct them toward the natural path of a disciplined and
healthy Brazilian worker, avoiding urban violence research. The ultimate goal is to support the development
of citizenship.
Therefore, the Olympic sport of karate makes an invaluable contribution to the development of an individual’s
character and personality, through self-control, discipline, physical and mental development, a sense of justice, willpower, humility, and determination.
2-OBJECTIVE:
To create conditions for children and adolescents to engage in recreational activities through this sporting practice that contribute to the construction of their identity,
aiming to exercise their citizenship rights, as well as contributing to the development of character.
Developing the learning of the main techniques and rules of karate will result in the development of physical fitness and the spirit of socialization and cooperation among students, with a focus on character development, potentially leading to the development of Olympic athletes.
3-GOALS:
Through sporting activities and karate and its specialized techniques, students will be able to develop their skills and achieve a balance of body and mind,
overcoming adversity to develop citizenship.
